Some common, easy to fix issues we have faced

Radiators not getting hot enough

If your radiators just aren’t has hot as they used to be you can try this simple trick. At your boiler you may have two dials, one with a tap icon and one with a radiator. Turn the radiator dial up to maximum and see if that makes a difference, its definitely worth a try before calling out one of our engineers.

Thermostat not turning heating on

This one is for those with a wireless thermostat and is as simple as turning it on and off again. Sometimes wireless thermostats can lose their signal between the boiler and stat and simply need to find it again. If you can, take your thermostat to the boiler and locate the thermostat receiver, usually a small white box next to the boiler. When you call for heating on the thermostat a light should appear on the receiver and the boiler turn on. If this doesn’t happen, turn off the boiler fully at the switch on the wall and remove the batteries on the thermostat. Turn both back on and try again, if this still doesn’t work contact us and we will be happy to help.

Water dripping from a pipe outside (blowoff)

If you have a drip outside coming from a pipe close to the boiler this is most likely the blowoff, a safety device that discharges water safely when there’s an issue with your boiler. This can be a sign of a more serious problem but we have also found that it can be a boiler filling loop left open. This filling loop will either be built in (refer to manufacturers instructions) or a silver flexible pipe connecting two pipes together under the boiler. Check both handles or one if you can only see one, the handle should be perpendicular to the pipe, it may have simply been knocked adding slightly too much pressure into the system causing the blowoff to drip.
